In a significant development for the expansion of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, the Asante Akyem Akyeasehene, Nana Tabono Bonsu III, has granted a 100 acres expanse of land to the University. This aims to facilitate the establishment of a KNUST satellite campus in Asante Akyem Akyease within the Juaben Municipality, in the Ashanti Region.

Nana Tabono Bonsu III, accompanied by his Council of Elders, ceremoniously handed over the land plan to the leadership of the University. During the presentation, he noted that after an extensive discussions with the University Management regarding the prospect of constructing a satellite campus in Asante Akyem Akyease, he was inspired to donate the land to KNUST for such purpose. According to Nana Tabono Bonsu III, the motivation for his action is to foster the growth of education and promote development in the Asante Akyem Akyease and the surrounding communities.
With its strategic location in the middle of towns in the Ashanti Region, Nana Tabono Bonsu III believes that the location of the land holds immense potential to stimulate socio-economic development in the Juaben Municipality. He noted that establishing a satellite campus in the Municipality will enhance access to quality education, employment opportunities and additional developmental initiatives.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo expressed profound gratitude to Nana Tabono Bonsu III and the elders for their foresight and commitment to the advancement of the University. He emphasised that the prosperity of any town relies heavily on the presence of robust educational institutions, thus commending the Chief and his Council for spearheading such transformative initiative.
